A tech came and said the door was fixable. He made a list of parts required. No mention of needing a new door was made. A call from the company said they couldn't fix it and we needed a new door. They kept the total retainer of $155.25 for the tech's 15 to 20 minute visit. I guess the fix didn't make enough money for them. We would not recommend them for repairs.

Hi Nancy, Thank you for your comments. Our fee is not a retainer, that is the cost to respond to the service request to and from the site within 30 KM of our shop, as like most service companies. It is essentially a 1 hour charge from our shop to your location and back to our shop. If we were able to fix the door in the that amount of time then you are only charged for the extra parts if used. In your case the old door required a lot of a lot of work and parts we do not carry on a truck. Yes, we could have fixed it, although after the technician discussed it with the service manger it was determined that it would have been more cost effective to replace the door. We would have actually made more money off the repair although we did not think it was in your best interest. When a customer buys a door from us during a service call half the cost of the call actually comes off the price of the new door. In your case we did not get that far, since you are not happy with the service we provide you will receive a full refund. Thanks DaveTotal satisfaction with my new garage door
